So Long and Thanks for all the Fish!

Dearest readers,
I’ve got a huge announcement to make today and I’m super excited to FINALLY be sharing it with you! These past two weeks, I’ve been busy at work setting up for just this day! The announcement? We’re MOVING!

These past few months, I’ve been noticing that my lovely blog of eight years – where I’ve been sharing every little thing I’ve thought about, created, crafted, written and read – has been taking off in two major, different directions. Increasingly, I’ve been noticing that most of my readers have expressed interest in the Bullet Journalling, studying, lifestyle posts I’ve been posting, and not as much in my writing and essays.
However, writing is important to me, and having a place to post it without worrying that I’m flooding someone’s notifications is key to making me actually want to write.

The Great Schism

And so, I decided to pack my bags, create two new blogs, and start from scratch.
The reason these two new blogs are also WordPress-hosted instead of also self-hosted (read: the domain name on one, for example, is “mistralspirit.wordpress.com” instead of just “mistralspirit.info”, like this blog), is because I’m planning for a recession. Just kidding. I’m actually planning for university. Yep, that’s right: I’m heading off to university where the bill for a self-hosted fancy “Cre84me.info” URL just won’t cut it anymore. I’ll have to be frugal with my money, and cutting out expenses starts now.

The Two Blogs

The two blogs I’ve made are as follows. Though the exact distribution of specific types of content is still being disputed, I’ve got a very rough idea of what each blog would look like.

Mistral Spirit, for anything and everything that is largely blogging and lifestyle-oriented. I’ll be posting about my Bullet Journal adventures, what I’m doing, and fun lists that I think would interest my readers. If this is what interests you, please go check it out and follow so you can receive the latest updates!

Silver Tome will be my personal creative outlet. My writing, essays, philosophical ramblings, literature investigations, and short stories will be posted there. May they find you at your most bored. 😉 If this was what attracted you most in Cre84me, you’ll be happy to know that I’ll finally be posting more writing and essays, so check this one out if this peaks your interest!

Please do take a look at my new blogs and follow if their content interests you! It means so much to me! You can also visit their About pages to learn more about the reason behind their names! 🙂

If by any chance, you ever want to go back and see the grandma blog of all these little blogs, Cre84me, you’ll have to visit it’s new archival location. The old domain (”cre84me.info”) will soon be discontinued.

Thank you all so much for being along for the journey! This blog has been such a big part of my identity for the past eight years and I’m so happy to have stayed true to it all these years!

So, ADIOS and I hope to see you at my new blogs! Till the next time!

Time Lapse Video | Wedding Ring Painting with Colour Pencils

Last weekend, I painted my great-grandmother’s wedding ring with colour pencils! I’m really proud of how it turned out. It took a long time (about four hours total), but I got to try some really cool techniques with colour pencils:

Bullet Journal | Fun Collection Spread Ideas

As you might know from reading some of my other Bullet Journaling posts, the Bullet Journal is so much more than just a single list – it’s MANY lists! As freaky-organized as that sounds, it’s actually a lot of fun. I love keeping various fun lists in my Bullet Journal, so I thought I’d share a few ideas with you.

Book Review & Discussion | Vicious by V.E. Schwab

Read this book almost a month ago, and I really enjoyed it. I’ve been meaning to write a little bit of a discussion about some of the moral questions the author raises – as that’s a very interesting part of the book – but not surprisingly, I didn’t, so now I’m left to try to put into words the few scraps of information and ideas that I can remember. I by no means do justice to the questions raised in the book, just sharing some of the conclusions I remember coming to after reading.

Bullet Journal | My Bullet System and Semi-Migration Tip

The bullets are the foundations for the Bullet Journal method, and each person has their own system. Today,  I’m sharing the bullet system I’ve been using and adapting since I started Bullet Journaling. The main things I value in a system are:

  1. Adaptability to different situations (I actually use my bullet system in my school notes too!)
  2. Simplicity (I hate having to refer back to a complicated key, so I keep my system as simple to remember as possible)
  3. Accessibility by future me (In all the notes I take, I think it’s really important to make them archival so I can easily refer back to them at a later time)

Bullet Journal | Fonts and Dividers

Next up in the Bullet Journal series … titles and fonts! It’s always fun to experiment with new spreads, titles and dividers, so I’ve created a comprehensive collection of practical (they don’t take long!) yet classy (they look sweet!) fonts and lines that you can use for your collections and dailies.

Organization | A Peek into My Little Blue Notebooks

Excerpt

If there’s anything you should know about me, it’s that turquoise is my favourite colour. So it’s no coincidence that the four most important notebooks in my life sport that same shade. In anticipation of a series coming soon where I’ll give you an in-depth look into my Bullet Journaling methods and note-taking methods, I’m going to give you a high-level idea of what I use my notebooks for and how I distinguish between what I write in each one.

Books | Favourites of 2016 and Anticipated in 2017

Unfortunately, I didn’t reach my Goodreads goal to read 30 books in 2016, but I’m really happy that I read more than one book a month – a total of 17! This year, I’m going to keep the same goal of 30, and to make sure I meet it, I’m putting together a list of books on my list to read for 2017.

But first! Here were my favourites of 2016. If you haven’t read these yet, get out there and start them because they’re AWESOME!

2017 | The Year of INTENT

What a year. It’s gone just as quickly as it came. Of all the holidays and all the times of the year, New Years holds a certain special place in my heart. I’ve never been the superstitious type, I think horoscopes are bullshit, and I think our lives are delicate strings pulled by none other than ourselves. And while a part of me wants to extend this philosophy of life to view the New Year as what it is: merely a changing of the calendars, the romanticized side of me sees it as a new beginning. It’s a convenient global event of self-contemplation and forward-thinking. It’s a big deal. And it always gets me sentimental. (Though maybe that’s just because of my traditional viewing of “It’s a Wonderful Life” after midnight.)

So naturally, I’ve been thinking a lot lately. The year has been a packed one for me, and these past couple of months especially. Though I know I say it every year, I’ll say it again: I have a feeling that this year I grew as a person more than I ever have. But there are so many things I’d change about myself. Oh, SO many things.

Commentary | It is Dangerous to Read Newspapers by Margaret Atwood

In “It is Dangerous to Read Newspapers”, Atwood depicts a narrator distressed by the terrors of the world around her, brought to life through the newspapers she reads. The poem claims that reading newspapers is dangerous. Atwood connects the lives of people in war-torn, devastated countries to that of the narrator, who enjoys a life of comfort away from war. Her only connection to the danger experienced by so many is in reading the news, which is her only source of information about the harsh horrors of the world.
